AA Insurance is set to roll out their first Gender Affirmation Policy as a part of their ongoing Pride Pledge commitment.
The Insurer signed up with the Pride Pledge in August 2024 and the Gender Affirmation Policy is another step in showing their commitment towards rainbow inclusion.
The Gender Affirmation Policy is designed to support all team members in their gender identity and expression, ensuring that every individual feels valued, respected, and safe in the workplace.
Paula Williams, Chief People Officer at AA Insurance says, “implementing our gender affirmation policy isn't just a step toward inclusivity—it's a commitment to creating a workplace where all employees feel respected, valued, and able to bring their full selves to work.
Pride Pledge Director Martin King says, “We have recently launched the Pride Pledge Gender Affirmation Policy register which will list New Zealand’s Gold Pride Pledge organisations who are rolling out the policy and taking one step closer to Rainbow Inclusion. The register is a way to be more transparent on the gender affirming policies organisations have in place.
Stephen Grey, Talent Acquisition Consultant at AA Insurance and rAAInbow Employee Action Group Lead says, “the policy will be in place to support the unique needs of our team members. We know that everyone’s journey is different and when someone is considering affirming their gender, we’ll develop a customised plan in consultation with the individual, their leader and/or a member of the People and Capability team, an EAP counselor and any support from their team.”
Registered organisations have policies which include gender affirming leave, inclusive bathrooms, uniforms and grooming standards, use of pronouns and support for gender diverse people to thrive in their organisations.
Full list of registered organisations can be found on the Pride Pledge website.
