Sponsorships and community partnerships

We’re focused on supporting what’s important to our customers, people and communities. AA Insurance connects with communities via a range of activities in partnership with organisations that are making a meaningful difference. When we support groups with funding, we engage our people and customers in the process, to understand which issues matter to them.

Our partners

Eden Park

Our collaboration with Eden Park is the perfect way to support some of New Zealand‘s most popular pastimes at New Zealand’s national stadium.

Eden Park is an incredibly well respected and iconic brand, with a rich history, so we feel honoured to have our brand feature alongside theirs.

Each year, more than half a million sports and entertainment fans from around the world visit Eden Park. Eden Park successfully hosts sell-out crowds of approximately 50,000 on match days and hosts more than 1,000 non-match day functions every year.

We’ve recently extended our partnership with the addition of the 'AA Insurance house’ for hosting and community opportunities. The house sits in the Northeast corner of the stadium and will enable community partners, employees and customers to experience the action at Eden Park from a great vantage point.

The Big Little Sponsorship

Every famous sporty Kiwi had to start somewhere. That’s why AA Insurance started the Big Little Sponsorship. In partnership with Eden Park and our campaign ambassador Keven Mealamu, we provide sports grants to primary schools across New Zealand to give the little guys a shot at reaching the top of their game Since AA Insurance launched the Big Little Sponsorship in 2018, we’ve received over 10,000 nominations and gifted over $70,000 to support grass-roots school sports.

Variety – the Children’s Charity

We partner with Variety – the Children’s Charity to help more children and young people enjoy a happy, healthy childhood.

Every day, 1 in 5 young New Zealanders go without the basics. This has a profound effect on their health, education, and self-esteem. Variety helps these children by giving them access to the same opportunities as other kids, laying the foundations for a better future.

As the Lead Partner of the Variety Beds for Kids Programme, we help raise awareness of the issue of bed poverty in New Zealand and assist with fundraising efforts to provide more warm, comfy beds and bedding for our tamariki.  To date we’ve helped provide 200 bedding packs and 51 beds to help kiwi kids stay warm and well. Student Volunteer Army

We believe stronger, more resilient communities help protect our customers and their belongings, and this is particularly important as severe weather events are becoming more frequent. Communities and households that are well-prepared and connected with each other, recover stronger, should misfortune or disaster strike. Student Volunteer Army has mobilised tens of thousands of student volunteers in local New Zealand communities and given them the skills to respond in a crisis, while empowering volunteers to build stronger communities through volunteering for generations to come.

We are proud to partner with Student Volunteer Army and work with them to continue their legacy of empowering primary, secondary, and tertiary aged young people in Aotearoa to find and create their own meaningful volunteering opportunities.

Motor Apprenticeship Scheme

Now approaching its fifth anniversary, our AA Insurance Sponsored Apprentice Scheme continues to provide a much-needed pipeline of talent for the collision repair and refinishing industry. Beginning with four apprentices in Auckland in November 2017, the scheme has provided both financial and mentoring support to apprentices as they work towards full qualification in these trades.

Today, AA Insurance supports six apprentices getting started in collision repair and refinishing. AA Insurance Supplier Performance Managers mentor scheme participants, passing on valuable skills and knowledge and are currently involved in monitoring apprentices’ progress as they work through their training modules.

Sponsorship criteria

To ensure our sponsorships and community partnerships deliver value for AA Insurance and our partners, criteria have been developed to evaluate all future opportunities.

While we’re always open to requests for sponsorship, we may not always be able to help, and right now we’re fully committed to our existing sponsorship and community partnership portfolio.

Our sponsorship and community partnership activities are governed by the following principles:

  • Alignment with our organisational and brand values.

  • Opportunity to build the reputation of our brand at scale.

  • Scope to build a tangible connection with our communities and provide benefits to our people, customers and the wider community.

  • High impact, relevance and visibility with the target audience.

  • Have a national presence and broad appeal.

  • Be of an appropriate weight and scale to build strength and credibility.

  • Participation and engagement opportunities for our people.

  • Opportunities to leverage and engage with our customers in a way that benefits them.

  • The partner needs to be willing to innovate and have a clear strategic direction.

Proposals won’t be considered if they:

  • Discriminate.

  • Support individuals only.

  • Support religious or political groups or events.
